Everton and Watford are tracking Bernardo Espinosa ahead of the January transfer window, talkSPORT reports.
The 26-year-old centre-back currently turns out for Sporting de Gijon in Spain’s La Liga, and has appeared 15 times in all competitions this season.
A graduate of Sevilla’s youth academy, he linked up with Sporting in the summer of 2013, establishing himself in their starting XI. Last season, he missed just one game as Sporting won promotion from the Seguna Division. They lost just two games, and Espinosa captained the side on occasion.
Tall and powerful, Espinosa looks to have all the traits which would make him a suitable defender in English football, and Everton and Watford want to tempt him to the Premier League.
He is out-of-contract at the end of this season, and the report claims he will snub a new deal with Sporting to secure a move to these shores.
It is down to a straight fight between Everton and Watford for his signature, with it expected that Espinosa will agree a pre-contract with one of the clubs in January.
