Michael Owen defends his pre-season predictions

Michael Owen predicted Chelsea to win the Premier League title this season and Leicester City to get relegated.

Former Liverpool and Manchester United striker Michael Owen has taken to social networking site Twitter to defend his pre-season predictions.

At the start of the 2015-16 campaign, Owen predicted Chelsea to retain the Premier League title.

The former Newcastle United striker also claimed that Leicester City would finish second from bottom in the standings and get relegated to the Championship.

As things stand, Leicester are on course to winning the league title and Chelsea are in danger of getting relegated.

The Foxes are two points clear at the top of the standings, while the Blues are just three points above the bottom three.

Owen has taken to Twitter to hit back at his critics, suggesting that no one could have predicted the current table back in August.

Owen’s pre-season predictions now look silly, but he is not the only pundit or Premier League follower to have got them wrong.

No one could have predicted that Leicester and Watford would be in the top half of the table at Christmas, while Chelsea would be way down in 15th.
