Former Liverpool and Manchester United striker Michael Owen has taken to social networking site Twitter to defend his pre-season predictions.
At the start of the 2015-16 campaign, Owen predicted Chelsea to retain the Premier League title.
The former Newcastle United striker also claimed that Leicester City would finish second from bottom in the standings and get relegated to the Championship.
As things stand, Leicester are on course to winning the league title and Chelsea are in danger of getting relegated.
Owen has taken to Twitter to hit back at his critics, suggesting that no one could have predicted the current table back in August.
Are my pre season predictions that far off what everyone else thought? Silly me, you all knew Leicester would be top and Chelsea 15th.— michael owen (@themichaelowen) December 21, 2015
Owen’s pre-season predictions now look silly, but he is not the only pundit or Premier League follower to have got them wrong.
No one could have predicted that Leicester and Watford would be in the top half of the table at Christmas, while Chelsea would be way down in 15th.
