The former Chelsea boss appears to be wasting no time in making plans should United approach him.
The Sun suggests that the United hierarchy have already approached Mourinho about taking over from the Dutchman at Old Trafford, and it appears that he is already making plans for his time with the Red Devils.
The 31-year-old was signed by Mourinho when the Portuguese was at the helm at Serie A giants Inter Milan. And having reportedly become unhappy with current side Galatasaray (via The Sun), it appears that the only thing preventing a move is when United decide to axe their current manager van Gaal.
United fans will be hoping, should Mourinho arrive, with Sneijder not far behind, that the pair can have the same instant impact that they had when the playmaker arrived at San Siro in 2009. Inter would go on to win an incredible treble during the Dutchman's first season with the club, repeating the feat that United had achieved just 11 years previously.
And while United are out of the Champions League this season, the club's supporters will be hoping that Sneijder can have a similar impact should he move to Old Trafford. He would certainly provide the attacking intent that has seemingly been missing from United's game since van Gaal took over, and may prove - along with Mourinho - to become the symbol of the club's return to the top of the game.
