The Hammers drew 0-0 with the Swans at the Liberty Stadium on Sunday afternoon, with both defences on top throughout.
Both Adrian and Collins were key to that, with the Spaniard turning away a fine Jack Cork volley and the defender doing well to block a goal bound effort Ki Sung-yueng shot.
West Ham co-chairman Gold was quick to praise them, saying that the goalkeeper in particular has been among the best in the Premier League so far this season.
“I have to say that Adrian was magnificent at Swansea,” he told whufc.com. “He is having a fine season, and has really established himself as one of the top goalkeepers in the league in the three seasons he has been here.
“Equally impressive on Sunday was James Collins, who gave a real lion-hearted display to help us hold on to our clean sheet and ultimately make our point.
“James has had to be patient this season as we now have four top quality centre halves at the club, but he has taken his chance with our recent clean sheets.”
If there is one thing that will hearten West Ham manager Slaven Bilic, it will be their ability to keep a clean sheet in recent weeks.
A strong defence is the basis of any good side, with that often giving the attacking players the confidence to go on and flourish.
West Ham are currently missing a number of their forward stars, which is why the wins have been much more difficult to come by in recent weeks.
With the defence doing so well in their absence though, the Hammers will be confident that will quickly turn around once the likes of Dimitri Payet, Manuel Lanzini, Victor Moses and Diafra Sakho return to the team.
