BBC pundit outlines what is scary about Newcastle

Newcastle United’s failure to win against Aston Villa at the weekend did not impress John Anderson.

John Anderson suggested on BBC Newcastle on Saturday evening that Newcastle United need to be consistent.

The former Newcastle defender made the comments following the Magpies’ 1-1 draw with Aston Villa at St. James’ Park in the Premier League on Saturday evening.

"Aston Villa deserved a point for their second-half performance,” said the former Republic of Ireland international on BBC Newcastle on Saturday evening. “They got a good equaliser, but Newcastle are just so Jekyll and Hyde. It's scary.

"Fans can't come and watch Newcastle with any confidence, because you simply don't know what you'll get from week to week.”

Newcastle were expected by many to win against Villa and they even took the lead, but in the end they had to settle for a share of the spoils.

Steve McClaren’s side headed into the game against the Villans on the back of a 2-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane in North London.

The Magpies had registered a surprise 2-0 victory over Liverpool at home at the start of the month.

Having picked up maximum points against Liverpool and Tottenham, Newcastle will be disappointed to have dropped two against Villa.

The performance of the Newcastle players against Remi Garde’s side was not great, although the rainy conditions and the pitch did play a role.
