Liverpool were defeated 3-0 by Watford at Vicarage Road.
Liverpool’s attacking midfielder Adam Lallana may as well have stayed at home on Sunday as he put in an utterly inept performance during his side’s 3-0 defeat at Watford.
With results somewhat going their way at the weekend, the Reds headed into their clash with Watford with the opportunity to close the gap on the top four to just two points.
However, the message seemingly got lost on the players as they put in a lethargic performance from the off, conceding two sloppy goals within the opening 15 minutes of the game.
As an attacking force, Jurgen Klopp’s men were not much better and former Southampton favourite Adam Lallana in particular had a game he will instantly want to forget.
|Goals||Shots on Target||Key Passes||Take-ons||Touches||Accurate Passes||Dispossessed||Mins Played|
As seen by the table provided by Opta Stats, Lallana was extremely ineffective throughout as he contributed nothing in terms of attacking play before he was rightfully hauled off after 74 minutes.
The talented England international failed to post anything of note in terms of shots on target, key passes and successful take-ons and in possession he seemingly did more harm than good.
From 45 touches, he only managed 23 accurate passes and found himself dispossessed on three occasions – a poor return for a player who is usually so confident on the ball.
Nothing went right for Jurgen Klopp’s side at Vicarage Road, and their inept performance was summed by their defending in the opening stages – Adam Bogdan and Martin Skrtel both extremely culpable.
It is now back to the drawing board for the Reds and at present the last team they want to face on Boxing Day is Leicester City as they welcome deadly duo Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez to Anfield.
