West Ham United manager Slaven Bilic says that Dimitri Payet could be back for the Premier League game against Liverpool on January 2.

West Ham United manager Slaven Bilic has told BBC Sport that Dimitri Payet could be back in action for the game against Liverpool on January 2.

Payet has been out of action due to injury since early November, but the France international attacking midfielder could feature against Liverpool at the Boleyn Ground in the Premier League on January 2.

“We hope that Payet could be back for the Liverpool game,” Bilic told BBC Sport.

Bilic made the comment following West Ham’s failure to win against Swansea City away from home on Sunday evening.

The Hammers’ performance in the league game at the Liberty Stadium left much to be desired.

Bilic injury update regarding Payet will come as great news to West Ham fans, who must have badly missed the Frenchman.

The former Marseille star was arguably the best player in the Premier League in the opening months of the season.

The 28-year-old scored five goals and created 46 chances in 12 league games before injury struck.

West Ham have struggled to play well and get positive results in Payet’s absence, and his return for the encounter against top four-chasing Liverpool will be the perfect New Year’s gift for the fans.
