Report: Everton want Steve Mandanda to replace Tim Howard in January

Everton have reportedly prioritised signing a goalkeeper in the January transfer window.

According to TalkSPORT, Steve Mandanda has been lined up by Everton ahead of the January transfer window.

The Marseille captain’s contract expires at the end of the season, and there is a feeling that he wants to leave the Ligue 1 side.

Mandanda has been with Marseille since 2007, but he is said to want a new challenge, and a move to the Premier League would present him with that.

Everton are reportedly on the hunt for a new goalkeeper, as Tim Howard has been shaky so far this campaign.

Howard’s performances in goal have been erratic, and his errors have cost Roberto Martinez’s side points.

Everton fans have grown frustrated with the American international, but Martinez seems to be reluctant to replace him with current back-up stopper Joel Robles.

As a result, Everton could look to solve their goalkeeping problem by bringing in a new talent and Mandanda is reportedly high up on their wishlist.

Mandanda has made 315 appearances for Marseille to date, and his good form has earned him 21 caps for France.
