The Crystal Palace player has been likened to the Real Madrid star when he first joined Manchester United.
The winger has been in fine form so far this season with a number of impressive displays, continuing the form he showed last season.
He is now very much one of the star players in Alan Pardew’s side and is certain to play a big part in where they finish in the Premier League this season.
Bolasie has become well known for the skills and tricks he puts on display, and Merson has likened him to when Ronaldo first joined Manchester United.
“He used to be one of those who’d do twenty step-overs and go nowhere,” he said on the Soccer Saturday show on Sky Sports News HQ on Saturday (December 19).
“Now he knows when to pass, when to hit people, he’s been absolutely outstanding.
“He’s still only young, he’s not Ronaldo, but I see a bit of Ronaldo from when he first came to Manchester United.”
With Bolasie performing so well, Palace will be fearful that one of the big sides may make a move in future.
If that were the case at some point, they would however be boosted by the fact it would take seriously big money to prize him away from Selhurst Park regardless.
That is a problem for the future, though, for now they will be hoping he can continue performing as he has been, with a top-four place very much up for grabs this season.
