Nottingham Forest defender Dani Pinillos has confirmed the worst possible news about his knee injury.
The Spaniard sent a message on his Instagram page confirming he has sustained an ACL tear.
This means he will miss the rest of this season, and is unlikely to be fit enough to take part in pre-season next year either.
He is attempting to be upbeat, determined to fight back and eventually continue where he left off.
He wrote: "Confirmed torn anterior cruciate ligament. No choice but to begin the recovery and to return as soon as possible and better than ever."
The development is a major blow for the player, who had been in excellent form for Dougie Freedman's side this season.
The management team also deserved plenty of credit for his signing on a free transfer, forced to look outside the box for new signings as a result of the club's transfer embargo.
Forest will need to look to repeat the feat in January, or sign a player on loan who can fill in, if they are to continue the form which has them unbeaten in the last five games.
Pinillos joined Chris Cohen and Britt Assombalonga as Forest players to suffer torn ACL's over the past 18 months, with both players now in the latter stages of their recoveries.
