Arsenal attacking midfielder Mesut Ozil has told The Times that Jose Mourinho is a great manager.
Ozil worked with Mourinho for three years at Spanish giants Real Madrid between 2010 and 2013. The duo won La Liga, the Copa del Rey and the Supercopa de Espana once each.
Mourinho returned to Chelsea in the summer of 2013 and guided them to the Premier League title last season.
However, the Portuguese was sacked by the Blues last week due to horrendous results this campaign.
Ozil has told The Times that he has been left surprised by Chelsea’s decision and has backed Mourinho to bounce back.
“I’m surprised by what happened with Jose,” the Germany international told The Times. “He’s a great manager. I believe that any club he goes to now he will be successful again.
“I know how special he is as a manager. He is a manager who always supports his team and always protects his team. He’s getting the best out of any player.”
Mourinho is one of the best managers in the world, and one suspects that he will not be out of work for long.
According to The Daily Mail, the former FC Porto and Inter Milan coach wants to manage Manchester United and would readily accept the job if it was offered to him.
