Collins started the Premier League game against Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium and played for the entire 90 minutes.
The 32-year-old central defender played an important role for the Hammers, as the game ended in a goalless draw.
Former West Ham winger Etherington was impressed with the performance of the Wales international centre-back and has sang his praises on Twitter.
Slightly biased I know but not many defender's of Collins type left in PL. Defends like his life depends on it and brilliant today #SWAWHU— Matthew Etherington (@mattyethers) December 20, 2015
Over the course of the 90 minutes at the Liberty Stadium, Collins took three shots, had a pass accuracy of 50%, won 67% of his headers, and made three interceptions, 13 clearances and four blocks.
It was only the defender’s seventh appearance in the Premier League this season, and he will hope that he did enough to retain his place in the West Ham starting lineup for the next game.
