Harry Kane has admitted that losing to Newcastle affect the Tottenham players.
Speaking to Ham and High, Harry Kane has revealed that the Tottenham players were woken up after losing to Newcastle, with complacency creeping in prior to that game.
Kane said: “Newcastle was probably a kick up the butt that we needed because we drew a couple of games. Maybe we were just getting a bit complacent so that maybe woke us up a bit. We definitely won’t be doing that against Norwich.”
Having gone unbeaten since the opening day of the season, Spurs entered the game with relegation threatened Newcastle last weekend expected to win.
They were on a run of slower form than they had displayed earlier in the campaign, with two successive Premier League draws, but the injury time winner which Ayoze Perez scored came as a real shock to all watching on.
The players looked tired and struggled to make their dominance count in the first-half, and this complacency ended up costing them against a Newcastle team who really should have been seen off.
Kane has admitted that losing that game caused the players to look at themselves and realise that they cannot be complacent in any game, even one against a team who have struggled all term.
The squad felt after the game that they had to wake themselves up, and they did just that this weekend, easily defeating Southampton at St Mary’s Stadium by a 2-0 scoreline on Saturday.
