Celtic midfielder makes his opinion of Chelsea known, sends warning

Celtic midfielder Nir Bitton warns against a slump like Chelsea this season.

Celtic midfielder Nir Bitton has told The Scottish Sun that he and his teammates must make sure that their season does not get derailed like Chelsea's.

Chelsea won the Premier League title last season, but they now appear to be in a relegation fight.

The London outfit are just three points above the bottom three at the moment and sacked Jose Mourinho as their manager just last week.

Celtic are currently at the top of the Scottish Premiership table and have a game in hand, but they have not looked great in recent weeks.

Bitton, who has been on the books of the Glasgow giants since 2013, believes that the players need to raise their game and avoid a slide like Chelsea.

“I can give you Chelsea as an example,” the Israel international told The Scottish Sun. “They have spent so much money and nothing is guaranteed.

“They had the best manager in the world, the best players in the world, and they are not doing well. Nothing is guaranteed.

“In football and no one promises we are going to win the league if we play like this. We will struggle, so we need to do our best and concentrate in every game.”

It is great of Bitton to stay humble, but the fact is that Celtic are still the favourites to win the Scottish Premiership title this season. The Bhoys have the best squad in Scotland, and it is hard to see past them.
