Liverpool were desperately poor in their defeat to Watford.
Former Liverpool striker Stan Collymore has slammed Martin Skrtel on Twitter after the defender endured a torrid opening period during his side’s 3-0 defeat at Watford.
The Hornets took the lead within the first few minutes of the match, on loan defender Nathan Ake bundling home from close range after goalkeeper Adam Bogdan fumbled a cross into the area.
And it was not long before the hosts doubled their lead, with Watford’s leading scorer Odion Ighalo again profiting from some slack Liverpool defending to fire his side further ahead.
It was a shambolic first-half performance from Jurgen Klopp’s side and former player Collymore took exception to Martin Skrtel’s poor contribution, while Didi Hamann questioned Liverpool's overall ability.

The Slovakia international defender has so often been a real rock for the Reds, yet he just never got going at Vicarage Road and could not handle strike duo Ighalo and Troy Deeney.
To rub salt into the wounds, Skrtel suffered an awkward fall and after brief treatment came off just before the half-time whistle as Klopp looked to reshuffle his pack.
The second half was not much better for the visitors as they struggled to create and looked shot of confidence at the back, resulting in Ighalo scoring a Watford third five minutes from time.
The result leaves Liverpool in ninth position in the Premier League table and still five points short of the top four, although the real concern for Klopp must be his side’s defending.
Skrtel was uncharacteristically weak during the first half and the likes of Emre Can and Mamadou Sakho were not much better as Watford fully exploited their lack of defensive solidarity.
