The Tottenham Hotspur summer signing faces a spell on the side-lines.
Tottenham Hotspur striker Clinton N’Jie has had surgery on his right knee following an injury suffered in the recent Europa League clash against AS Monaco.
The news was announced on Spurs’ official website this weekend, and comes as a blow to manager Mauricio Pochettino as he bids to keep his side in the Premier League’s top four over the Christmas and New Year period.
N’Jie has had a limited impact since signing for Tottenham from French side Lyon in the summer. But having shown glimpses of what he can do – mostly from the bench – the player’s medial collateral ligament injury has come at a bad time with the games coming thick and fast and everyone likely to play a part at some point.
The Cameroon international has featured 13 times for Tottenham to date, providing an assist in the 4-1 trouncing of Manchester City back in September.
The latest report does not indicate how long N’Jie will be out of action; only that Tottenham’s medical staff will be monitoring his recovery heading into 2016.
