Tottenham beat Southampton 2-0 on Saturday afternoon.

Tottenham Hotspur got back to winning ways on Saturday afternoon with a 2-0 victory over Southampton at St. Mary's Stadium.

After a 2-1 defeat to Newcastle last weekend, some fans and pundits had questioned whether Spurs were burning out midway through the season, but they hit back in style on Saturday.

Harry Kane opened the scoring by firing past Paulo Gazzaniga after a weaving run past the Southampton defence, before Dele Alli fired home at the back post from Kyle Walker's cross.

Spurs did have Hugo Lloris to thank for a string of fine saves, but fans took to Twitter after the game in order to praise midfielder Mousa Dembele instead.

The Belgian international had endured an inconsistent three-year spell at White Hart Lane having signed from Fulham back in 2012, but he has come to life this season.

Now a key player under Mauricio Pochettino, Dembele is consistently showing the power and drive from midfield which saw him become hot property at Fulham.

Tottenham fans on Twitter raved about Dembele, claiming he is their most important player by far and even their player of the season to date.

They also claimed that Dembele's absence through injury and illness against Newcastle led to their defeat, and weren't surprised that Spurs claimed a victory as soon as Dembele returned with a dominant midfield performance.

Here are some of the reactions from Tottenham fans on Twitter after Dembele's performance against Southampton on Saturday afternoon...
