Everton great Tim Cahill has praised Romelu Lukaku, after the striker got on the scoresheet for the seventh consecutive Premier League match yesterday.
Although Everton were beaten 3-2 by Leicester City at Goodison Park, Lukaku once again impressed as he showed his finishing prowess.
The 22-year-old capitalised on a scramble in the box, and slammed in to give Everton a route back into the match after Riyad Mahrez had fired the visitors into the lead.
Unfortunately for Roberto Martinez’s side, Lukaku’s goal was not enough to fire them to victory.
Leicester scored again through Mahrez and Shinji Okazaki, and although Kevin Mirallas netted late on, it was not enough to get them back into the match.
Lukaku’s goal does mean that he is closing in on Jamie Vardy’s newly set record, though.
Vardy set a Premier League landmark – by scoring in 11 consecutive fixtures, but Lukaku could break that run very quickly if he keeps up his current form.
The former Chelsea man already has 16 goals for the campaign, and Cahill was delighted to see the target-man performing so well.
