Report: Nottingham Forest interested in Aston Villa’s Gary Gardner

Nottingham Forest reportedly want to sign Gary Gardner from Aston Villa in the January transfer window.

Nottingham Forest are interested in signing Gary Gardner from Aston Villa in the January transfer window, according to The Mirror.

It has been reported that Forest are among a number of Championship clubs who want to secure the services of the 23-year-old central midfielder for the second half of the season.

Good move for Gary Gardner?

Gardner is a very good midfielder and has a promising career ahead. The 23-year-old has struggled with injury this season and has not made a single appearance in the Premier League for Villa.

The former England Under-21 international will be keen on getting playing time once he recovers fully, but will he get that at Villa?

The Villans are struggling for survival in the Premier League at the moment, and one suspects that manager Remi Garde may not be inclined to hand Gardner too many chances.

The Englishman had a good spell on loan at Forest last season, scoring four goals and creating 10 chances in 18 Championship appearances.

Forest are pushing for a top-six finish in the Championship this season, and moving to the City Ground on a temporary deal next month would be good for Gardner.
