Report: Norwich leading race for Lamine Kone

Norwich City, Swansea City, Aston Villa, Newcastle United and Sunderland are all reportedly interested in Lamine Kone.

Norwich City are leading the race to sign Lamine Kone from Lorient in the January transfer window, according to The Sun.

According to the British tabloid, Norwich have moved ahead of Premier League rivals Swansea City, Aston Villa and Sunderland for the signature of the 27-year-old defender.

The Sun claims that the Canaries are planning to hold talks with the Ivory Coast international centre-back, who has been on the books of Ligue 1 outfit Lorient since 2010.

According to a recent report in The Daily Mail, Newcastle United are also interested in the former Chateauroux defender.

Kone has created two chances in 16 appearances in Ligue 1 for Lorient so far this season.

The centre-back has a pass accuracy of 81% and a shot accuracy of 44%, and has won 38 headers, 18 dribbles and 10 tackles.

Lorient are seventh in Ligue 1 table at the moment with 26 points from 19 matches.
