Nick Powell says he did not mean to like comments undermining van Gaal; Manchester United fans respond

Manchester United continue to struggle under manager Louis van Gaal.

Manchester United midfielder Nick Powell has taken to Twitter to respond to claims that he ‘liked’ comments from Tony Cottee suggesting that his manager Louis van Gaal had wasted money during his time at Old Trafford.

Powell reportedly hit the ‘like’ button on the social media site and that prompted the Metro to report that there was now clear player unrest at United as they struggle in the Premier League this season.

United lost 2-1 to Norwich City on Saturday, meaning they have now gone six matches in all competitions without a victory, and that has piled the pressure on both the players and most notably van Gaal.

However, Powell sent a message on Sunday morning claiming that it was not his intention to like the comments that suggested van Gaal had been careless with the considerable transfer funds he has been given since replacing David Moyes at the helm.

“Didn’t even know I liked that post, did not mean to,” the United youngster wrote. “I was just scrolling down my newsfeed.”

Powell has been blighted by injury since he signed for United, but van Gaal has given him a chance this season and the 21-year-old has recently featured against Wolfsburg in the Champions League and Bournemouth in the Premier League.

Following Powell's tweet some United fans responded and you can read a selection of what they said below:
