Leeds United fans react on Twitter to Chris Wood's performance against Preston

Leeds United beat Preston North End 1-0 at Elland Road this afternoon.

Leeds United made it three wins in the last four games by beating Preston North End 1-0 at Elland Road on Sunday afternoon.

North End goalkeeper Jordan Pickford was sent off in the first half having been adjudged to have handled outside the penalty area as Chris Wood moved towards goal.

17-year-old Matthew Hudson came on to make his Preston debut, but couldn't stop Leeds going in front after half time as Preston midfielder Alan Browne turned the ball in to his own net from a Stuart Dallas cross.

That gave Leeds a valuable 1-0 win, meaning they now sit just five points adrift of the play-off places after a fine run of form under Steve Evans.

One player who hasn't quite dazzled the Elland Road crowd though is summer signing Chris Wood, who was signed from Leicester City by former boss Uwe Rosler.

So far, the 24-year-old has scored seven goals in 22 games, which is far from a disgraceful record in front of goal, but the striker has yet to really earn consistent praise from Leeds fans.

It's now one goal in the last six games for Wood, and fans took to Twitter after beating Preston to give their verdict on the New Zealand international's performance.

Many believe that Wood isn't living up to the hype when Leeds signed him over the summer, with some even calling for manager Evans to drop him in favour of Mirco Antenucci.

Others were more appreciative of the hard work by Wood, but fans want to see goals - and supporters seemingly aren't quite convinced by Wood just yet.
