Sunderland were beaten 3-1 by Chelsea at Stamford Bridge yesterday.
Fabio Borini has reacted on Twitter, after netting his first goal of the season during Sunderland’s 3-1 defeat to Chelsea.
The Italian was one of the only Sunderland players in the match to come out of the contest with any credit, but he was still understandably disappointed with the result.
The Black Cats had shown signs of improvements in recent weeks, but their performance at Stamford Bridge fell well short of expectations, and Borini had mixed emotions of the game.
Borini has struggled for goals ever since moving to Sunderland from Liverpool in the summer transfer window, and there is hope that his strike against Chelsea will help him push on for the vital matches ahead.
In the match at Stamford Bridge the Black Cats gave themselves an uphill task within the first 15 minutes.
Chelsea scored through Branislav Ivanovic and Pedro early on and Sunderland rarely threatened to get back into the contest.
Oscar made it three in the 50th minute, before Borini netted a late consolation.
Sunderland’s defeat leaves them down in 19th place in the Premier League table, five points away from safety.
