Lamela and Falcao send message to River Plate on Twitter ahead of Barcelona showdown

Tottenham Hotspur attacker Erik Lamela and Chelsea striker Radamel Falco will be cheering their former club River Plate against Barcelona today.

Tottenham Hotspur attacker Erik Lamela has taken to social networking site Twitter to wish his former club River Plate the best of luck for today’s big game against Barcelona.

Argentine giants River will face Spanish and European champions Barcelona in the final of the Club World Cup at the International Stadium Yokohama in Yokohama in just over half an hour’s time.

Lamela, who can play as a winger or as an attacking midfielder, hopes that his former club River win.

The 23-year-old started his career at the Argentina powerhouse and played for them until 2011 when he joined Italian outfit AS Roma.

Lamela’s tweet when translated into English reads: “Let’s go Los Millonarios. Cheering from here.”

AS Monaco-owned Chelsea striker Radamel Falcao has also wished River the best of luck for the match against Barcelona, having played for the Buenos Aires-based outfit from 2001 to 2009.

Falcao’s tweet when translated to English reads: “Let’s go River!!! Ready to cheer al millo.”

Barcelona will head into the match as favourites, but one should not dismiss River’s chances of winning it.
