According to a report in the Mirror, Swansea City have lodged a loan bid for Chelsea’s Loic Remy.
The Swans currently find themselves occupying 17th position in the table, without a manager and devoid of confidence following a run of just one win in 11 Premier League matches.
Swansea’s biggest problem this season has been their lack of goals - incredibly only four players finding the net this season with summer signing Andre Ayew topping the charts with six strikes.
The Welsh outfit are in need of an attacking addition or two in January, and one player they have seemingly sounded out is Chelsea’s out of favour striker Loic Remy.
“Swansea have made a loan bid for Chelsea striker Loic Remy. The Welsh club have renewed their interest after being knocked back during the summer,” the report in the Mirror states.
Remy has featured sparingly for the Blues this season, making just one Premier League start with a further six appearances coming off the bench, scoring just the one goal.
The France international has an abundance of ability but he has been unable to dislodge Chelsea’s Diego Costa as the number one striker at Stamford Bridge, prompting plenty of speculation.
The links to the other two clubs make sense considering his history and ties, yet it is Swansea who are making the biggest push – offering a £1 million loan fee and prepared to cover all of Remy’s wages.
Remy, a renowned goal scorer at Premier League level, appears likely to move on in January.
