Arsenal right-back Hector Bellerin feels there isn’t a better number 10 around than teammate Mesut Ozil as he waxes lyrical over the German international’s superb form, The Sun report.
The Gunners head into Monday’s clash with Manchester City with seven players absent through injury, including the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Francis Coquelin and Santi Cazorla.
Injuries to such key players would weaken any side, yet Arsenal have maintained a good run of form with a number of other Arsenal players really stepping up to the plate in their absence.
German World Cup winner Mesut Ozil is one of those in exceptional form, and Bellerin has explained to reporters how there is currently not a better number 10 out there.
“We are all very happy he is finding himself and playing even better. He is making so many assists and scoring so many goals,” the Spanish fullback said.
“There’s not a No 10 better than him right now. We’re very happy to have him.”
Ozil has been spectacular this season, notching 13 assists in 15 league matches and setting a unique record of posting at least one assist in seven consecutive Premier League fixtures.
Many questioned the former Real Madrid star’s efforts after a testing debut campaign, yet nobody can argue with his contributions this season as he continually provides a real spark for the Gunners.
Boss Arsene Wenger is seemingly pleased with his star player, telling reporters for the Mirror how the 27-year-old has turned into an ‘absolutely unbelievable’ player – the Frenchman’s own words.
Ozil still has some way to go before challenging the likes of Thierry Henry and Dennis Bergkamp for club hero status, though if he can maintain form the comparisons may start to become more frequent.
