Tottenham Hotspur legend Glenn Hoddle said on the Matchday Live with Fletch & Sav show on BT Sport 1 last Saturday morning (December 12) that he prefers Everton striker Romelu Lukaku to Liverpool’s Christian Benteke.
"Lukaku," said Hoddle when asked to choose between Lukaku and Benteke. "Lukaku is settled in the team. He knows the system at Everton.
"Benteke is not sure whether it is stick or twist at the moment. Are they getting crosses in at Liverpool? That’s why Lukaku."
Benteke joined Liverpool from Premier League rivals Aston Villa in the summer transfer window.
The Belgium international striker has scored four goals and created 14 chances in 13 league appearances for the Reds so far this season.
The 25-year-old has a pass accuracy of 66% and a shot accuracy of 39%, and has won 86 headers, five dribbles and two tackles.
Lukaku has scored 12 goals and created 20 chances in 16 Premier League appearances so far this campaign.
The 22-year-old former Chelsea striker has a pass accuracy of 75% and a shot accuracy of 59%, and has won 34 headers, 21 dribbles and five tackles.
Liverpool are ninth in the Premier League table at the moment, while Everton are currently 10th in the standings.
