The Ghanaian scored a screamer against Newcastle United today.
Newcastle United and Aston Villa played out something of a throwback at St James Park this evening. Amid heavy rainfall at St James Park the two teams went toe-to-toe and in the end Aston Villa managed to pick up just their seventh point of the season.
The performance from Villa was one of grit, although they certainly benefited from the monsoon weather.
They also benefited from an outstanding performance from Jordan Ayew. The Ghanaian seems t be reborn under the management of Remi Garde and he ran the show much of the second half.
In fact, he scored the equaliser with an outstanding finish from the corner of the box.
It was a goal that had former Aston Villa hero Ian Taylor going absolutely bananas on his Twitter account:
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyeeeeeeeeewwwwwwwwwww!!!!!!!!!!! Getttttttiiiiiiiiinnnnnm!!!!!! https://t.co/LAFc3WCjbY— Ian Taylor (@IanTaylor7) December 19, 2015
Former Aston Villa midfielder Barry Bannan, now at Sheffield Wednesday, also took to Twitter to celebrate the stunning strike:
Wow wat a strike ayew get in— barry bannan (@bazzabannan25) December 19, 2015
It was a fantastic goal that he crafted all by himself and the general feeling is that if Aston Villa are to pull off the great escape this season then Ayew will need to be on top form.
