WWE NXT superstar Finn Balor has told Tottenham Hotspur's official website that he has been a Spurs fan since the days of Gary Lineker and Paul Gascoigne.
Balor, real name Fergal Devitt, was one of the biggest stars in the world of wrestling during his days in Asia with New Japan Pro Wrestling, but made the move over to WWE in 2014.
The Irish-born wrestler has become a crowd favourite with WWE's development promotion NXT, where he is currently the men's champion - and has been famed for his elaborate entrances in his 'demon' persona.
On Wednesday, Balor retained the NXT Championship at Wembley's SSE Arena, and whilst fans managed to see their hero in action, Balor also got to go and visit his heroes too.
Balor has told the Tottenham Hotspur official website that he grew up a Spurs fan having been encouraged by his brother, and he was eventually drawn in by the likes of Gary Lineker and Paul Gascoigne during the 1980's and early 1990's.
Balor, who met with Kyle Walker on Wednesday, also admitted that his favourite players now are Harry Kane and Jan Vertonghen, and always tries to watch matches whilst at the WWE Performance Centre in Florida.
"I personally became a Spurs fan from a young age," said Balor. "Back in the late 1980s and early 1990s my brother Colin was a Spurs fan and of course we had a great team then with the likes of Lineker and Gascoigne and the FA Cup victory of 1991. That era was what really sucked me in."
"I always follow the results on Twitter and the online apps and I try to catch the games as much as I can. I pay for a package out in the States that gives me all the matches, but it’s rare that we have a Saturday off! It’s great to meet Kyle – he’s been here a long time and I’m a big fan. I’m obviously a big Harry Kane supporter and a huge Jan Vertonghen fan as well. He’s rock solid!" he added.
