Wolves fans react on Twitter to Danny Batth’s performance v Leeds

Wolves lost to Leeds United on Thursday evening in the Championship.

Leeds clinched a 3-2 victory over Wolves at Molineux yesterday evening, with Kenny Jackett’s men struggling to put in a competitive performance.

They went ahead through Benik Afobe, but Wolves were outplayed by Leeds from the moment Souleymane Doukara was brought into the game on the 30th minute.

Sam Byram netted twice, either side of a Stuart Dallas goal, to send the travelling side into the led, and although Nathan Byrne pulled one back for Wolves with his first goal for the club, Jackett’s team couldn’t get the equalising goal in the final 10 minutes.

Jackett reacted to the need for a goal by throwing central defender Danny Batth upfront, a move which brought a lot of criticism from fans considering that Grant Holt was sitting on the substitutes bench.

This was not the only part of Batth’s performance which brought him criticism, as his natural defensive role looked completely out of sorts against the Whites.

He was given the run around by the Doukara, Dallas and Byram, and whilst he was strong in the air against Chris Wood, that was more down to Wood’s struggles rather than his own strengths.

Batth, captain of Wolves, has struggled this season as the team has struggled, and fans took to Twitter after the loss to Leeds to react to his performance - with one criticising the centre-back for never being as good as Joleon Lescott was when he was 19-years-old.
