Watford have Serie A rivals in pursuit of Juan Manuel Iturbe

Fiorentina are also said to be keen on the Argentine Under-20 international.

Watford have impressed back in the Premier League with some shrewd recruitment and loyalty to the right players working wonders for The Hornets.

The club have always managed to bring in top talent from Italian football, courtesy of their ownership by the Italian Pozzo family.

Now it seems they have their eyes on a top talent in Juan Manuel Iturbe.

Tutto Mercato Web reported last week that Watford have been in touch with Roma about signing the Argentine talent who was one of Europe's most wanted talents last summer. The Giallorossi are reportedly open to loaning the player to Watford in January with a buy-out option.

The deal seems to be making progress but there is a big issue.

According to a report today from TMW the talented playmaker does not want to head to Watford, instead he would prefer an Italian stay. The same report claims that Fiorentina are open to giving him that option in January.

Roma will of course prefer to send him to Watford, rather than a Serie A rival, so The Hornets would still appear to have the upper hand.

Hopefully so, as Iturbe could be a coup for the Hertfordshire club.
