Former Liverpool striker Stan Collymore highlighted on the Call Collymore show on talkSPORT on Sunday evening (December 13) a similarity between Manchester United and Celtic at the moment.
United are the biggest club of England while Celtic are a giant in Scotland, but neither side are doing particularly well at the moment.
True, the Red Devils are in the running for the Premier League title this season and Celtic should claim the Scottish Premiership with relative ease, but the football played by them have not been exactly great so far this campaign.
Louis van Gaal’s style is pretty dull, boring and slow, while Ronny Deila has not convinced everyone at Celtic.
Moreover, both United and Celtic have ‘failed’ in Europe this season. While Van Gaal’s side failed to progress to the last-16 stage of the Champions League, the Bhoys could not get out of their group in the Europa League.
While discussing the current state of the two giants of British football on the Call Collymore show on talkSPORT on Sunday evening (December 13), Collymore said: “But for a club like Manchester United, it’s very similar to Celtic. Celtic play in a certain way, attacking football, width.”
United will take on Norwich City at Old Trafford in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon, while Celtic will face Motherwell at Celtic Park in the Scottish Premiership.
