HITC Sport understands a number of Premier League and Football League clubs are chasing non-league star Luke Pennell.
Burnley are hoping to steal a march on their rivals in the race to sign sought-after non-league defender Luke Pennell, HITC Sport understands from sources close to a potential deal.
Pennell, who is currently plying his trade in the Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division with Dunstable Town, has caught the eye this season of clubs higher up the football pyramid with a number of impressive performances.
Dunstable are bracing themselves for interest in Pennell with clubs monitoring his progress this season.
Pennell, who played in the same MK Dons youth team as Dele Alli, is a versatile defender who is equally adept at playing at left-back or centre-back.
The 19-year-old has already enjoyed a trial period at Fleetwood Town and now Championship hopefuls Burnley have taken him for a training stint so that they have can have a look at him at close quarters.
However, several other sides, including Premier League Norwich City and League One Millwall have expressed an interest in the powerful 6ft, 4in defender and would like to take the player on trial.
Burnley are hoping they can fend off the rival interest in Pennell by securing a deal for the defender to bring him to Turf Moor as soon as possible.
