Newcastle join several Premier League rivals in scouting Arsenal target Ben Chilwell

Scouts from the Magpies were in attendance as Huddersfield Town took on Rotherham United earlier this week.

Newcastle have apparently joined the race to sign exciting Leicester City prospect Ben Chilwell, after the Yorkshire Post reported that their scouts joined representatives from several Premier League sides in watching the talented defender.

Chilwell is currently out on loan with Championship side Huddersfield Town, and it was during David Wagner's side's 2-0 victory over Rotherham United on Tuesday that the Yorkshire Post claim saw the Magpies watch the 18-year-old.

The left-back has been attracting plenty of attention from the top flight currently, with the Yorkshire Post claiming that north London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham were just two of the clubs that also had scouts in attendance.

The Telegraph reported earlier in the month that Liverpool were also keen on the starlet.

Chilwell has only made four appearances for the Terriers, but has recently established himself as Wagner's first choice on the left-hand side of the back four, thus keeping international full-back Jason Davidson on the sidelines.

And with Huddersfield keeping a clean sheet in the victory over Neil Redfearn's side, it is likely that the Premier League scouts would have gone away very impressed by the youngster's performance.
