When asked if Villa can beat Newcastle, Bosnich said: “I don’t think so. Aston Villa traditionally do not do well at Newcastle, and they’re in a real crisis. I really do think they are going to go down, and that will be a real slap in the face for Aston Villa.”
Villa head into the game with still only one victory to their name all season, coming on the opening day against Bournemouth. Their most recent game ended in a loss to Arsenal, and they travel to St James’ Park with Garde looking to pick up just his third point in his sixth game.
For the Magpies, they enter the game on the back of a strong run of form, with two successive wins against Liverpool and Tottenham - sides considered top four contenders - moving them out of the bottom three.
They are now two points ahead of Norwich in 18th place, and a victory over Villa on Saturday can only move them one place higher, but potentially create a large gap between them and the bottom three.
A Newcastle win would also move them 13 points clear of Villa in last place, and would surely doom Garde’s men to the drop - if they are not already relegated.
Bosnich has predicted a Newcastle win this weekend, and he can see nothing but a drop to the Championship for his former club.
