Liverpool legend Phil Thompson has suggested that Jurgen Klopp should start Divock Origi up front instead of Christian Benteke for the Reds' Premier League clash with Watford this weekend, Sky Sports reports.
The Hornets boast one of the most resolute defences in the top flight but the pundit believes Origi can cause Quique Sanchez Flores' side problems in one specific area - and that that advantage means he should get the nod over team-mate Christian Benteke.
"I would think Origi has done enough to warrant a starting place, especially for an away game where his pace will be a real threat," Thompson told Sky Sports.
The 20-year-old scored a hat-trick to help the Merseyside outfit into the semi-finals of the Capital One Cup earlier in the month and followed that up with his first Premier League goal last weekend. His stoppage-time equaliser against West Brom will have surely boosted his confidence after a steady start to his Anfield career.
Meanwhile, Benteke has looked far from his best in recent weeks and has not scored in the league since October. While the Belgian will be able to deal with Watford's physicality, Origi's acceleration may be what the Reds need to create gaps for the likes of Philippe Coutinho and Adam Lallana to exploit.
