"It'd be a step down" - Crystal Palace fans react to Tony Cascarino linking Alan Pardew with Chelsea

Alan Pardew

We're not entirely sure what's funnier, Palace fans reaction or Chelsea fans reaction!

Most football fans are still shocked that Chelsea sacked their most successful manager of all time, Jose Mourinho, despite his poor start to the season.

With the Premier League champions currently 20 points off the top of the table and just one away from the relegation zone, attention has turned to who will replace 'The Special One'.

Though the BBC has claimed former Netherlands and ex-Chelsea interim manager, Guus Hiddink, could take over again at Stamford Bridge until the end of the season, we're all wondering who will get the full-time job.

We're guessing names like Pep Guardiola, Diego Simeone and Carlo Ancelotti will be whispered - but former Blues striker Tony Cascarino reckons another manager would sort Chelsea out.

Cascarino was quoted by the Express as claiming that Alan Pardew is the man for Chelsea: "He is ready for the step up to join a team in the Champions League. He has the ability, the ego and the bravery.

"What the Chelsea players need is a compassionate manager. Pardew would heal the wounds and get them winning again."

While Chelsea fans are probably banging their hands against the wall, Crystal Palace fans are not impressed with their boss being linked with a move away.

And, as you can imagine, plenty of Eagles fans took to Twitter to share their annoyance at the links between Pardew and Chelsea.
