David Gold

The West Ham co-owner took to Twitter with a typical attempt at humour.

West Ham United co-owner David Gold took to Twitter in response to Chelsea's sacking of Jose Mourinho the only way he knows how.

Indeed, Gold joked on social media about Mourinho asking West Ham youngsters which one of them wants to manage Chelsea next.

It was the same photo he used when mocking the Blues after the Hammers beat them 2-1 at Upton Park. Back then, he captioned it 'who wants to play for Chelsea next week?'

Not too many marks for originality, then, but Gold did at least change the punchline.

The West Ham co-owner's joke matches the mood of the nation when it comes to the Mourinho sacking. Well, at least the majority of the nation.

Chelsea fans seem disappointed and they have good reason to be. But Mourinho did enough to isolate himself from a number of opposite fanbases (as well as many Chelsea supporters themselves).

West Ham fans were delighted when the then Blues boss was sent to the stands during his side's 2-1 loss in east London and duly mocked him for it. Now, as Gold has proven, the mocking is likely to continue for some time...
