Tottenham have been given permission to build their new stadium.
Haringey Council confirmed late on Wednesday night that Tottenham Hotspur have been granted planning permission for their new stadium.
Spurs are planning to leave their White Hart Lane home in 2017 and spend a year at another venue before moving in to their new stadium - just a stone's throw away from White Hart Lane - in 2018.
The stumbling block for Daniel Levy and co has been planning permission, but they can now begin to construct their new stadium in the coming years.
The move is seen as the perfect way for Tottenham to grow, develop and become a major force in English football as they move from a 36,284 capacity stadium in White Hart Lane, to a 61,000 capacity arena.
After the announcement was made by Haringey Council, Tottenham fans took to Twitter to give their reaction to the news, praising chairman Levy in the process.
Spurs supporters praised Levy for his vision and ambition, whilst others poked fun at North London rivals Arsenal because Levy had planned a stadium just 740 seats bigger than the Gunners' Emirates Stadium.
Others noted how upset they will be when they play their final home game at White Hart Lane, but know it's a necessary step as the club look to progress on and off the field.
Here are some of the tweets from Tottenham fans on Twitter after learning about the club's planning permission...
We need the new stadium to compete but make no mistake a day out at the football will never be the same again after next season #THFC— Liam McGrory (@LiamMcGroryYID) December 17, 2015
Amount of work spurs hierarchy put into facilitating a new stadium might not be fully appreciated. I'd like to say Well Done D.Levy #COYS— bristolgilly (@adrian_gilmore) December 17, 2015
