Toby Alderweireld has told Tottenham Hotspur’s official website that he is loving playing at White Hart Lane.
Alderweireld joined Spurs from Atletico Madrid in the summer transfer window and he has immediately gone into their first-team.
The Belgian international has looked commanding throughout the campaign to date and the 26-year-old admits that he is very happy with the way things have started for him in North London.
“I’m very happy with how things have gone," he said. "There is something about how I feel here. I’m very lucky to be here, I’m very happy and the guys have helped me from day one, so any credit doesn’t just go to me.
"They gave me confidence and that’s one of the most important things in football, having the confidence to show your ability. I’m very happy here. I just hope I stay fit and we’ll see what happens.”
Alderweireld’s partnership with fellow Belgian Jan Vertonghen at the heart of Spurs’ defence has been one of the major reasons behind the club's excellent start to the season.
Tottenham have been resolute defensively this term and only conceded 14 goals in their first 16 league matches.
Alderweireld’s next match for Spurs comes against his former club in Southampton.
The Saints had wanted to sign Alderweireld permanently in the summer, but he opted to move to White Hart Lane instead and it seems that he has no regrets about his decision.
Tottenham are currently in fifth place in the Premier League table while Southampton are 12th.
