Sheffield Wednesday got in on the act on a busy day for football by confirming Glenn Roeder has left the club.
#swfc can confirm that Glenn Roeder has today left the employment of the club— Sheffield Wednesday (@swfc) December 17, 2015
Roeder was appointed last season as part of a three-man committee at the club, and was the last remaining member.
Adam Pearson left within weeks after being offered a role at Leeds United - which he has also since departed - with the third man being former manager Stuart Gray.
The committee acted as a bridge to help new owner Dejphon Chansiri familiarise himself with English football, helping pinpoint and secure transfer targets, alongside new boss Carlos Carvalhal.
Roeder's departure could be a sign that Chansiri is ready to be more pro-actively involved, or that Carvalhal feels he wants more independence in acquiring players for the team, possibly a bit of both.
Wednesday are positioned just outside the Championship play-off places, and are expected to be one of the busiest teams in the division in January as they push to win promotion.
The timing of Roeder's departure caused plenty to joke that it was in some way connected to Jose Mourinho's departure from Chelsea, announced just an hour earlier. He may be so lucky.
Here is a look at how Wednesday fans reacted to the end of his tenure at the club...
