Delia said: “We have had a talk with him, he is humble, an intelligent guy. He knows what I expect and the changes he needs to make to be part of the first team or the squad and we have to see through time if those changes are going to be made. He has apologised. I talked to him before so this is nothing new.”
Stokes was suspended from the squad after ranting on Twitter after travelling with the playing squad for a Premiership match to Inverness. He was annoyed to be forced with the team if he wasn’t going to play, and his social media outburst ended with a two-week suspension.
Deila has confirmed he has held talks with Stokes, and that the striker has understood he needs to change if he is to become part of the first-team again.
Deila wants Stokes back in the team, as he is a talented footballer, but the head coach will not bow down to pressure unless he changes himself to better suit the ideology that is demanded at Parkhead.
Following on from those comments, Deila confirmed that Stokes will not be available this weekend against Motherwell, as the fixture will come too soon after returning to training.
However, he should be back in action and ready to play for the Bhoys again for their tie with Hearts on December 27.
