The Newcastle midfielder's future is the subject of a question mark or two.
Indeed, the paper suggest Tiote is wanted by three clubs - Galatasaray being one of them - but that McClaren is keen for the 29-year-old to stay on Tyneside.
Stick or twist?
Tiote has become a divisive presence among fans, with many wanting him out of St James' Park.
Some poor performances have certainly warranted that request and no one would blame McClaren - or the Newcastle board - for cashing in on the 29-year-old.
But McClaren does seem to have an attitude of sticking with who he has got. You couldn't quite yet say it's worked but it did do the trick against Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur. A case in point is Fabricio Coloccini: the Argentine has had a horrendous few months but turned in strong displays over the last two games thanks to continued faith from McClaren.
Could that policy work with Tiote?
