Manchester United are competing to sign Robert Lewandowski.

Manchester United are battling to sign Robert Lewandowski, report German magazine SportBILD.

It is claimed the Red Devils have proposed to pay the Pole 12 million Euros per year, which works out at £8.7 million.

This is however half the £15 million they currently pay Wayne Rooney, who is on a £300,000 per week contract.

United are not the only club to be in contact with his representatives. SportBILD report Paris Saint-Germain have made a proposal to blow United's out of the water, offering £10.9 million per year, while Real Madrid have put forward an equal figure to the Red Devils.

Polish international Lewandowski has been in prolific form this season, with the highlight being his sensational five goals scored within nine minutes against Wolfsburg, the side who knocked Manchester United out of the Champions League.

This season in the Champions League, Lewandowski's performances have put Rooney's - and his salary - to shame, netting seven times at a ratio of more than one per game, compared to the United striker's weak effort.

He currently has a contract until 2019, but with Bayern in a period of transition with Pep Guardiola set to leave, question marks are hovering over his future.
