Liverpool are into the fourth round of the FA Youth Cup.

Young Liverpool striker Toni Gomes scored as the Reds progressed to the fourth round of the FA Youth Cup.

Gomes, 17, is a Portuguese youth international who has been impressing in recent weeks in the club's academy.

Liverpool beat Ipswich Town 2-1, and their under-18 side is now unbeaten in 14 straight games.

Adam Phillips had scored opening goal in the victory, and the pair posed together for the cameras after the final whistle.

Gomes signed for Liverpool earlier in 2015, and has been a regular for the under-18 side, even playing twice this season for the under-21s.

Liverpool face Cardiff City in the next round of the FA Youth Cup, with the fixture due to be played in January.

The Reds have won the competition three times over the past 20 years, doing so in 1996, 2006, and 2007, and last reached the final in 2009, when they were defeated by Arsenal.

It will be interesting to see if the arrival of Jurgen Klopp as manager prompts greater focus on the academy succeeding in competitions, and with a manager in charge renowned for giving chances for youngsters - and already showing so, this can only inspire the under-18 side to make a name for themselves.
