Tottenham have been granted planning permission for their new stadium.
Spurs were granted the green light to go ahead with building their new stadium yesterday, and Tottenham hero Graham Roberts reacted to the news on his personal Twitter account, calling Wembley the perfect temporary home.
Fantastic news on the stadium last night massive praise to Daniel Levy and Donna Cullen.Fa over to you to keep North London team at Wembley— Graham Roberts (@GrahamRoberts4) December 17, 2015
Closing the top tiers as they have to at wembley to make 60k perfect for Spurs for season.— Graham Roberts (@GrahamRoberts4) December 17, 2015
The agreement from Haringey Council was reached yesterday, confirming that Spurs are one step closer to being given the full go ahead for their new ground.
The final confirmation has to come from London mayor Boris Johnson, although he has been in favour of the new stadium, and an agreement is meant to be reached before the end of this year.
The last thing that much be done before Daniel Levy can sanction the full work is to find a temporary home, likely for one season, so that the current White Hart Lane can be demolished and the new one built.
There have been many calls for various grounds - with Wembley and Stadium:mk the two most frequently mentioned temporary homes - and Roberts believes that Wembley would be the best option.
If they close the top tier, as is required for weekly club football, it will be a 60,000 capacity, and will set Spurs up perfectly for the eventual move into their own 60k seater stadium.
