Former Leeds United captain Dominic Matteo has told TV Yorkshire that Sam Byram should be in the Leeds team every week.
Leeds face a trip to Molineux tonight as they take on Wolverhampton Wanderers, with manager Steve Evans still looking for some consistency.
Having replaced Uwe Rosler as Leeds manager almost two months ago, Evans has taken charge of nine games so far - and with three wins, three draws and three defeats, it's clear that Leeds have't quite found their feet under Evans just yet.
There has been some tinkering with the line-up and formation, with Evans choosing a 4-1-4-1 system in recent games - but he has been urged to find his best team.
Former Leeds captain Dominic Matteo, who played for the club during their Premier League days, has told TV Yorkshire that it's time Evans found his best line-up; and he believes Sam Byram fits in to that.
Right back or right winger Byram, 22, is out of contract at the end of the season, and with just 24 minutes played over the last six games, it's clear that he is out of favour right now.
There are some who suggest that Byram is being kept out of the side due to the contract saga surrounding the right back, but Matteo urged Evans to forget the politics and get Byram in his side on a regular basis.
"I always say this - I'm not sure he knows what his best team is," said Matteo. "Maybe some of the better players aren't getting games for politics at the club, with the likes of the Sam Byram's of this world. Is he not playing for certain reasons? In my opinion, people like Sam should be playing, he should be in the team no matter what the situation is at the club. It's a difficult situation, but I also believe that Steve Evans should pick his best team," he added.
Should Byram start for Leeds against Wolves tonight?
