Danny Drinkwater could be back in Leicester City's team by Boxing Day.
Ranieri stated that Danny Drinkwater’s injury, which forced him to go off against Chelsea in Leicester’s last outing, was not as serious as first feared.
But he was unable to provide such a positive fitness update on Jeffrey Schlupp, as the pacy wide-man is set for a lengthy absence.
CR: “Schlupp is a little more serious. Drinky is okay. It’s a little problem. Against Liverpool he is ready.” #EveLei— Leicester City (@LCFC) December 17, 2015
There were concerns that Drinkwater could have been out for the long term, so his imminent return is particularly pleasing news.
The central midfielder has been one of Leicester’s key players so far this season, and his partnership with N’Golo Kante has been one of the major reasons behind Ranieri’s side’s great start.
Schlupp, meanwhile, has had a more peripheral role to play, but the Foxes will still be pleased to have him available for selection when he does return in the new year.
Leicester’s next match comes against Everton at the weekend, and a win would strengthen their position at the top of the Premier League table.
