Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has been speaking ahead of his side’s Premier League clash with Manchester City on Monday evening, with his comments later posted on the Gunners’ official Twitter account.
The two sides head into the clash occupying the positions directly below surprise league leaders Leicester City, and with just one point separating the Gunners and the Blues, a victory heading into the Christmas and New Year period will be huge for whoever secures it.
Soon after that encounter the two managers could well be turning their attentions to who they can sign in the January transfer window, and Wenger has spoken about the prospect of making additions to his injury-hit squad.
“We are open-minded,” the Frenchman said. “We are not the only ones who can decide the speed of transfers.”
There is no doubt that Wenger would love to bring some additional quality to his side knowing full well that he will rarely have a better chance of reclaiming a Premier League title that has alluded him for so long.
But while Wenger and the Arsenal hierarchy may well be open-minded, January is a famously tricky time to get it right when it comes to transfers…and the players the Gunners boss wants may not be available until the end of the current campaign.
