Former Blackburn Rovers striker Jason Roberts has named his Premier League team of the season so far, including players from the likes of Arsenal, Leicester City, Newcastle United and West Ham United.
As per his self-made video on Breathe Sport, the former striker has gone for a very attacking line-up – naming as many as five forward-thinking players in a 4-3-3 formation.
In goal he has gone for Manchester United’s David de Gea, though it seems it was a close decision between the Spaniard and Stoke City’s Jack Butland who has been brilliant this term.
A back four of consisting of Chris Smalling, Aleksandar Kolarov plus Tottenham Hotspur duo Toby Alderweireld and Kyle Walker, the latter two helping their side to an excellent defensive record.
Dele Alli takes up the role of the holding midfielder, with Roberts impressed by his ability to adapt to Premier League football so quickly after making his move from MK Dons.
As per the graphic, the rest of the team is made up with attack-minded players with Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil and West Ham United’s Dimitri Payet completing the midfield three.
Ozil has been superb for the Gunners this season, posting 13 assists in 15 Premier League matches.
Payet is currently injured for West Ham, and he is a big miss as the Hammers’ summer signing scored five and added a further three assists in his opening 12 league matches at the club.
Another summer signing makes the team, Newcastle United’s Georginio Wijnaldum. The Dutch international has been outstanding for the Magpies, scoring seven and adding two more assist.
Wijnaldum also matched a very unique record at St. James’ Park, becoming the first player since Alan Shearer to score four goals in one match as Newcastle thrashed Norwich City 6-2.
Leicester City duo Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez complete the team, and it’s no real surprise either as the duo have scored a combined 26 goals as the Foxes currently top the Premier League table.
Vardy smashed a Premier League record having scored at least one goal in 11 consecutive league matches, while Mahrez also has a simply astonishing seven assists to his name.
